I don’t know if you heard but Google recently started showing favicons on mobile search. If you’re not familiar with “favicons”, it’s basically a miniature logo so to speak that shows up in different places in a web browser.
Before you say “why should I care about these favicon things?”
Check out this screenshot below from a google search in my area (on my phone) and you’ll see the favicon next to my listing. It’s looks like a “DF” but in my font and colors.
I think we can all agree which captures your eyes first. Of course being higher helps but that if you compare my listing to the two below me, you’ll see mine stands out more with my custom favicon. My competitors have just generic favicons leaving me with an instant initial impression on my prospect even before they click to my site (whether they consciously notice it or not themselves).
